Plunketts 0-9 Clan Na Gael 1-5

On a day of nerve jangling Plunkett’s eventually ran out 1 point winners over Clan NaGael in the promotion playoff final.

This was a day that saw all the hard work over the past year come to fruition. Our lads despite having to play 3 tough games in a week showed great character and no little skill to book our place in Division 1 next year. After  a nervy start from both teams the Clans opened up a 2 point lead but up stepped Johnny Kermath with 2 excellent scores to level it for the Plunketts. The Clans tagged on another point and then broke for a goal. However our lads were not to be fazed and an excellent point from Cian Matthews followed by a free from Rory Taafe saw the Clans go into the break with a 1-3 to 0-4 point lead. The second half was all about the Plunketts with Emmett Kelleher and Kermath in particular bossing midfield but we failed to make the scores count on the board , However points from Emmett’Deano’ Kelleher and Stephen Keely settled the nerves and brought us level. The last fifteen minutes were all about desire and 3 frees from Rory Taafe were enough to see us over the line.Hero's where to be found in every position of the pitch as well as those who came of the bench. Next year will see us play teams like the Pats, Mattock Rangers and of course our neighbours the Blues. Were all looking forward to 2011 already!! It was back to Foleys after the game were a great nights craic  was had as our lads and supporters  enjoyed a well earned night out .
